I shoot what was actually there.
I'm a photographer working with analog black-and-white film. I document the streets of Southeast and East Asia — the small moments where a city speaks for itself.
Everything here was shot on 35mm film with one of three cameras — a Konica Hexar AF, a Contax 167MT or a Nikon F90X — then developed and scanned by hand. I edit lightly, but I leave the dust and scratches — they are evidence of the process and of the moment that actually happened. In an era where any image can be generated, a negative is its own kind of proof.
The work lives in ongoing series. The Sign Said follows the words that happen to be in the frame; Witnesses is people watching the world go by; Blue Notes is rain, solitude and quiet light. None of them is finished — new frames join as I develop them, and a new series begins when an idea keeps coming back. Selected frames are released as limited editions on Base, on a contract I own, so the work outlives any platform.
